Galena Fest 2010 The Bloody Rose Mountain Bike Climb, The Thorn Uphill 10k Race and Youth Park side Mountain Bike Races
The goal of the Galena Fest 2010 is to raise funds for the establishment and maintenance of outdoor recreational resources in the Sierra, including the addition of viable and approved bike and hike trails.
The Bloody Rose bike race and Thorn running race raise funds to be used for future trail development.
Pre-Registration: ensures accurate timing, category assignment and T-Shirt by Monday 9/20 at 8pm.
Hand Delivered: to Galena Fest by Friday 9/24 by 5pm, FEE INCREASE, T-Shirt not guaranteed.
On-Site: On Sat. 9/25 from 3-6pm, and Sun 9/26 at 8am. FEE INCREASE and T-Shirt or timing not guaranteed.
The Bloody Rose Mountain Bike Climb: Begins at 8:30am
Event sponsored by Watson Rounds Law Firm. This year's climb includes an additional 2.5mi of dirt road and single track as the route meanders from the starting line at Galena Creek Regional Park to the top of Relay Peak, 11.7 miles and 4700' elevation. Find the course here.
Ubergroup - Licensed Racers USAC road or track Cat 3 or above and/or Mountain license Cat 2 or above or similar license category from any other racing organization.
Male & Female groups: Age on race day 16-34, 35-49, 50+
Competitive Racers all others: Male & Female groups, age on race day 16-34, 35-49, 50+.
The Thorn Uphill 10k Race: 9:00am start. Under the direction of our race sponsors, Dr. Andrew Pasternak/Silver Sage Sports Performance and the South Reno Athletic Club, Galena Fest 2010 add a competitive uphill 10k running race.
Runners will climb from the park and find their finish line among the Jack Pine trees just beyond The Wall at the top of Sky Tavern following a climb of 1700' over the roughly 5.7mi course. This timed, individual and team event helps to raise funds for awareness about outdoor recreational resources in the Sierra.
Individual Male & Female groups - age on race day under 35, 35-49, 50+
Teams (4 combined participants) - Overall female/male teams, Overall co-ed (2 female, 2 male).
Youth Park-side Mountain Bike Races: Ages 5-15 and categories TBD. No T-Shirts and sight finish only.
Event fees include registration, timed results, T-Shirt, free stuff & prizes (with pre-registration).
